Smooth materials such as calf leather easily repel dirt and grime. If you step into a puddle of water or dirt, there is a good chance that you will wipe it off with a dry cloth.

Suede shoes require a little more attention. Suede is made from the inside of leather, without the skin layer. This makes the material softer and warmer than smooth leather. But the brushed structure makes it easier for dirt and grime to adhere to the shoe. So make sure you have a suede brush to easily remove any stains. And before you put on your leather shoes, first spray them with the intended spray.
